HEATCON Supports UBC Supermileage Team

HEATCON is proud to support the next generation of composite repair experts and technologies.

A donation of Nomex® honeycomb was given to the University of British Columbia Supermileage Team by HEATCON Composite Systems. This material was used in the construction of the shell for the team’s their first ever monocoque-style prototype vehicle.

The Supermileage Team recently competed at the Shell Eco-Marathon in Detroit where their prototype performed reliably and scored an impressive mileage of 520 mpg. This benchmark secured UBC a 20th place finish out of approximately 65 teams.

The second competition for the school, the SAE Supermileage, took place in Marshall, Minnesotta in early June. The team was able to improve their prototype to 566 mpg and finished in sixth place!

These engineering students are using composite materials in exciting ways. We are excited to see the future accomplishments of these innovators!
